GreenTree at WestWood 55+ Community Testimonials

GreenTree has been a wonderful option for my mother the past two years.  We especially appreciate the caring, attentive staff.  They make such a difference to the residents by listening and truly hearing what’s being said. Whether looking for a game of bridge, euchre, or bingo, there’s always an activity to join in.  Root beer floats while enjoying a breath of summer air and drives in the van with Dean allow a much-needed outing for loved ones stuck in their apartments during the pandemic. Dean also wears the hat of conscientious handyman and taxi driver and has even been known to pick up prescriptions for residents unable to get to the pharmacy. The dining room is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Or, if requested, meals can be delivered to the apartment. Choices! The fact that GreenTree has had no COVID cases, certainly speaks volumes, during this time of pandemic.  PPE is worn by workers and mandated during visitor appointments helping to keep the virus at bay.  Our current environment is challenging, to say the least.  And as you might imagine, living out of state is difficult, when my mother wants to stay in Columbus and I live and work in Maryland.  To be able to place a phone call and get immediate attention from one of GreenTree’s staff means everything.  All in all, GreenTree has been a godsend.  Vicky and staff are top notch and I feel blessed to have this facility as my precious mother’s home.

To Whom it May Concern:

GreenTree Assisted Living has been part of my life for almost ten years.  In 2010, my mom, who lived in Indianapolis, had finally agreed to give up her condo and move closer to me.  We visited three facilities, but once we visited GreenTree, she knew she had found her new home.

What a blessing it has been for both of us.  She has been in every size apartment as her life as changed, and each one was her favorite.  Surrounded with her “own things” in a smaller space has allowed me to rest better and her to improve her quality of life.

The staff is family to both of us, even before the current lockdown.  They are performing all the “can you help me” tasks that I was running out there for and making a difficult situation (the pandemic) as pleasant as possible.  They encourage the residents to keep moving and interacting, while protecting them at every turn.

My name is Libby Arthur and I would like to recommend GreenTree at Westwood Assisted Living to those who are ready for a living arrangement that provides extra assistance in their daily living.  My father, Gene Gurthet moved to GreenTree 2.5 years ago upon the death of my mother.  He was lonely and needed more help as he advanced in age. 

As my father’s main caretaker, I enjoy not only the independence that GreenTree affords but also the extra special love and care they provide for my dad each and every day.  GreenTree is a newly redecorated community.  The colors and decorating are very appealing and modern.  The place is clean and well taken care of.  There are a variety of room layouts to select from.  My dad enjoys his one bedroom apartment and finds it of ample size.  His bathroom is large and outfitted with many safety features. As I write this letter, GreenTree has remained Covid free.  The director and staff have taken the pandemic very seriously and have used every precaution to guard the residents from catching this horrible virus. 

There is a wide variety of foods that is ever changing.  Eating in the  beautiful dining room is restaurant style.  Residents order off of a menu whatever suits their fancy that particular day.  My dad loves the food especially the deserts and the ice cream!  Residents sit with friends of their choice.  

My dad has greatly benefited from the physical therapy provided by the Legacy clinic at GreenTree.  They have been very helpful in keeping him strong and mobile so that he can care for himself.  My father also benefits by using the laundry and the medication assistance plan provided at GreenTree. 

Although everything I have previously mentioned is important, it’s really the positive attitude of the director and the staff that I want to commend.  The reason my father is happy at GreenTree is because they LOVE him. They listen to him. They interact with him. They respect him. They are interested in him. They take care of him physically, mentally and spirtually.  Vicky Colson, the director, has gone out of her way to accommodate my father’s wishes and needs. She is one of those people who has a can do attitude.  She has enriched my father’s life beyond measure. 

I am beyond grateful to all of the staff at GreenTree for caring for my father in a dignified and caring way.  I hope you give GreenTree at Westwood serious consideration as a great place to live once assisted living is needed.

My mother, Mary, approached me a few years ago asking if I would help her seek a new home where she could feel safer and be around other people.  I made a few calls with other families who reviewed various options for their own loved one, visited various facilities and quickly came to the conclusion that Greentree was the very best option for our needs.  

As a caregiver partner, my requirements were similar to my mother seeking safety and socialization.  But my final decision was based on the attention to detail and the overall care of the staff at GreenTree.  I like the fact that they are always seeking better ways of making GreenTree as flexible and meaningful to individual needs.   I also appreciate that the food is not just a standard menu or cafeteria – giving residents the ability to pick out their favorite choices and sit with their friends.  Anytime there is a concern, I value getting updates on how they observe my mother or other special needs that I may not be aware of.  

It’s a great partnership between my mother, Greentree and our family.
